Mary Louise Johnson, 88, of Bristol, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital. Mary was born on September 19, 1934 in South Bend to the late Frank and Theresa (Harmacinski) Kukla. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Zygmunt Krzyzanowski and Richard Johnson, a son Larry Krzyzanowski and four brothers and two sisters preceded Mary in death.
Surviving are her children; Gail A. Krzyzanowski, Mark A. Krzyzanowski, Donna R. Krzyzanowski and Fay A. (Dane) Peterson; also surviving are three loving grandchildren, Kara (Dave) Jacobs, Alexis Paige Peterson, Zoie A. (Ben) Nusbaum,; two great grandchildren Olivia and Ella and her sister Adell Yost.
Mary's career was spent serving others in healthcare, especially mothers and children, starting at Memorial Hospital in South Bend and then at Elkhart General Hospital for many years, as a technician in OB-Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Mary was a devout Catholic and a woman of great faith, she enjoyed attending and being a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. Mary was an avid animal lover and enjoyed watching the birds. She also enjoyed crafts, painting, and baking. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A memorial mass celebrating the life of Mary L. Johnson, will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 beginning at Noon (12 o'clock) with visitation one hour prior at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula St. Bristol. Rev. Robert "Bob" VanKempen will celebrate. Private burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Mary's name to either Humane Society of Elkhart Co. 54607 CR 19, Bristol, IN 46507 or to St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Per Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. Condolences may be made online at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
