Obituary

Mary Evelyn (Kile) Carr, 91, of Elkhart, passed into the arms of Jesus her Lord and Savior on December 2, 2021.  She was born May 13,1930 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Frank J. Kile and M. Fern (Erb) Kile.  On August 6,1950, she married David Carr of Erie, Pennsylvania at Zion Missionary Church, Elkhart Indiana.

Surviving are two daughters Dawn E. (Richard) Raeder of Elkhart Indiana; Valarae S. (Michael) Pfister of Huntsville, Alabama; and one son David Brent (Andrea) Carr of Edwardsburg, Michigan. There are eight grandchildren: Franklin, Adam, and Daniel Carr, Matthew, Anthony, and Joseph Raeder, Valaine Perry and Moriah Pfister.  Three step-grandchildren: Matt, Jessica and Cody.  She has 17 great-grandchildren: Josiah Carr, Malachi Carr, Aliyah Carr, Judah Carr, Elias Carr, Titus Carr, Phinehas Carr, Azariah Carr, Cadence Carr, Conley Carr, Adalyn Carr, Brynleigh Carr, Carter Jefferys, Traver Jefferys, Sevyn Jefferys, Arthur Raeder, and Elise Raeder. 3-Step great-grandchildren: Keelee King, Gabriel Cole and Isabella Cole. She was proceeded in death by her parents and three brothers, Marion F. Kile, Robert G. Kile and Philip D. Kile.

Mary was employed at Wilt's Food Center, Elkhart Youth for Christ, and retired after 23 years as school secretary at Beardsley Elementary School in 1993.  She taught Sunday School, was WMS President, ran the nursery and was greeter for more than 45 years at Bethany Missionary Church.  She has been a member of Beulah Missionary Church for the past 10 years where she enjoyed greeting.  She sang with her husband for many years in the choir at Zion Missionary Church and at Bethany Missionary Church.  They worked with district JOY-Senior program for for over 20 years. While Mary loved to cook and sew, her favorite thing was caring for others, especially through hostessing.  She loved her husband of 71 years, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Most of all, she loved Jesus her Savior.

A visitation for family and friends of Mary will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old County Rd. 17, Goshen, IN 46528 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm at the church. Graveside service will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart is assisting the family.
