Mary Anna Doncaster, 91, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Waterford Crossing in Goshen.
Mary was born in Elkhart, IN on March 7, 1934 to James Arthur McLain and Helen (Angel) McLain. She married the love of her life John Doncasteron August 10, 1963 in Elkhart.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Helen House and Phyllis Goolsby.
Mary is survived by her husband and soulmate of 62 years, John; sons, Stephen (Noreen) Ward of Elkhart, Douglas (Pam) Ward of Three Rivers, MI and Gregory (Christine) Doncaster of Goshen; grandsons, Jeff Deal, Jeff Ward and Bryan Doncaster; and several great grandchildren.
Mary graduated from Elkhart High School and became a skilled seamstress, sewing interior vans and RVs. She was a gifted singer, singing at First Presbyterian Church choir and in weddings. Mary's claim to fame was her singing on the Ted Mack Amateur Show out of Chicago, IL.
She and her husband, John were avid travelers attending many car shows to show off John's prized Model A Ford.
After retirement, they moved to Brandenton, FL after 20 years. Mary pursued a quiet and private life yet one full of adventure.
Mary also was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals for her family.
There will be no services at this time and Mary will be cremated. Mary will be laid to rest at Rice Cemetery at a later date.
