EASTLAKE, Ohio -- Mary Carol Collister, 78, of Eastlake, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died March 8, 2009, in Lake West Hospital in Willoughby, Ohio.
She was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Fairmont City, Pa., to the late Thomas Edward and Vinta (Sherman) Smith.
She married Kenneth Dale Collister on April 29, 1967, in Montreal, Canada. He died March 14, 1998, in Elkhart.
One son, Craig William Collister of Eastlake, survives along with two stepgrandsons; one sister, Barbara Panich of Willoughby; one brother, Neil Smith of Leesburg, Fla.; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Sherry Baker; one brother, the Rev. William Smith; and two sisters, Jane Mezzie and Linda Fatica.
Mary was a homemaker and attended St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church, Bristol, Ind., before moving to Ohio. Mary enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and will be remembered as a very giving and generous person.
Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. March 29 at St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church, 601 E. Vistula St., Bristol, with a reception after the service. The Rev. Corinne Hodges will officiate, with interment of her cremains in St. John of the Cross Cemetery on the church grounds. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
