Obituary

ELKHART -- Mary L. "Mary Lou" (Gross) Clem, 94, residing at Riverside Village in Elkhart, passed away Saturday evening, March 5, 2011, at her home.

She was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Millersburg to Peter and Ruth (Rothrock) Gross. She was married to the late Paul D. Clem.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Paul) Dishong of Elkhart; son Paul S. (Jackie) Clem of Ocklawaha, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lisa (Claude) Donati of Granger, Becky Bloomfield of Belleview, Fla., and Tracy Culkar of Strongsville, Ohio; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Gross.

Mary retired from the housekeeping department at Elkhart General Hospital, where she worked for more than 25 years. She was a 1935 graduate of Millersburg High School. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and wildlife.

A gathering of friends and family will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home with private graveside services at Rice Cemetery. Pastor Marge Mason Braden, spiritual care counselor with The Center for Hospice Care, will celebrate.
