Obituary

Mary Ann Johnson, 98, of Elkhart, formerly of Warsaw, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart. She was born on February 19, 1924, to the late Carl and Flora Meyer.

Mary is survived by her son, Thomas (Tina) Johnson; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Hugh A. Johnson; daughter, Carol A. Hutts; brothers, Carl, Walter, James, and Paul Meyer; sister, Ruth Meyer; and grandson, Tony Hutts.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A private family service will immediately follow the visitation along with a private graveside service to take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. We ask any guests to kindly respect the family's wishes to have private services.

Mary was a fiercely independent and caring woman who always put her faith in the Lord and family first. She worked at Gatke Corp in Warsaw for several years in the customer service department and was a devout member of the Lutheran Church. Mary lived on Hoffman Lake in Warsaw for several years where she enjoyed living near the water. In her spare time, she loved to tend to her garden and enjoyed baking pies for her family. Mary showed her love through baking and creating immaculate holiday dinners for her loving family. Her specialty was making every holiday and birthday spectacular and memorable. Family meant the world to Mary, and she will be greatly missed by them all.
