John Moran
September 19, 1955 – June 15, 2024
Martin John "Marty" Moran, 68, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, June 15, 2024 at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart. Marty, as he was known to his family and friends was born on September 19, 1955 in Wiesbaden, West Germany, he was adopted and raised by his parents, the late Harry Edward and Rita Dolores (Franks) Moran.
On a June 20, 1981, he married a beautiful young lady named Myra Jo Gosser, they built a wonderful life together with their five children; Jenny (Jay) Campbell, Jason (Melissa) Moran, Emily (Lilly Bodner) Moran, Robert "Robby" Moran and Kevin (Jaimie) Moran; four grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Riley, Ryan Moran and Haley Grace Moran, expected very soon. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Patrick) Collins.
Marty received his BS in 1978 from Illinois State University. He was a Certified Plant Engineer and retired from Elkhart Brass Manufacturing. He was also self employed as an engineer for many years. Marty was of the Catholic faith and had formerly attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Marty was involved in all his children's lives, coaching and watching his children play Little League. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping. Marty loved to golf with his kids and brother-in-law and made sure to beat them as often as he could. He enjoyed making many memories pool side with his family, friends and dogs. Most of all, Marty's family was the center of his life.
To say he loved the Chicago Cubs would be an understatement. He was a die-hard Cubs fan. In honor of Marty and his love for the Cubbies, the family requests for Cubs apparel to be worn. "GO CUBS GO!"
Family and friends will gather from 4-6 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Where a service to celebrate his life will follow at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Sheets, from Middlebury Community Church of the Nazarene will officiate. In honoring his wishes, cremation was chosen.
