GOSHEN — Martha A. Pauley, 87, of Goshen, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at the Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen.
She was born July 26, 1924, in Terre Haute, to Fenlon "Joe" and Ellen (May) Biggs. In January 1944, she married George J. Pauley in Evansville.
Survivors include her daughter, son-in-law and caregiver, Ellen (Joe) Stevens of Goshen; two grandsons, Joe (Kris) Stevens of Canton, Mich., and Eric (Molly) Stevens of Collierville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Leah and Joshua Stevens of Canton and Luke and Charles Stevens of Collierville; and friends and caregivers Connie Whitsett of Middlebury and Sandy Grice of Goshen.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by one brother, James Cox; sister-in-law Wanda Cox; and a nephew, Robert Cox.
Martha worked in the men's department at J.C. Penney at Concord Mall, for more than 18 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46516. The Rev. Glenn Kohrman will officiate. Interment will follow in Violet Cemetery in Goshen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or the activities department at Courtyard Heath Care Center.
