ELKHART -- Martha Lucille Cook of Elkhart passed away at 12:07 a.m. Monday (Aug. 9, 2010) at Greencroft Healthcare Center in Goshen. She was 84.

A lifelong resident of Elkhart, she was born March 18, 1926, to Delbert and Louise (Cable) Swinehart. She married Wendell R. Cook in the late 1940s. He died in Elkhart in 1985.

Surviving are a son, Michael K. Cook of Elkhart; daughters Kathy L. (John) Oswalt of Elkhart and Linda (Terry) Hall of Elizabethtown, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Brothers Richard and Omar Swinehart and granddaughter Tamara S. Oliver preceded her in death.

Martha's remains have been cremated. A graveside service is scheduled at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2010). Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting the family with arrangements .

Martha worked in sales at the Grant's and Robertson's department stores at the old Pierre Moran Mall in Elkhart for many years.
