Obituary

ELKHART — Marshall Lou Buirley, 70, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Jan. 8, at his residence.

Marshall was born Jan. 22, 1946, in Elkhart, to the late Lewis William and Virginia Mae (Schrader) Buirley.

In addition to his parents, daughter Vickie Brown and a granddaughter, Rhonda West preceded him in death.

Surviving are his companion of 29 years, Betty Vaughn; children Matthew (Jennifer) Buirley of Hastings, Mich., Katrina (Shawn) Headley of Prescott, Ark., Theodore "Ted" Buirley of Grand Rapids, Mich., Donna (Marlin) West and Mark Vaughn, both of Elkhart and Tammie (Bill) Yoder of Romeoville, Ill.;  and brother Dale (Lucy) Buirley of Sturgis, Mich.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Marshall was a proud truck driver for more than 50 years.

He started with delivering RVs, then park models, tractor trailers, and most recently was delivering RVs for Maple Tree Transportation.

Marshall liked to watch NASCAR.

He also loved to tell stories, talk with people and was a big BS'er.

He had friends all over the country from driving trucks.

His handle was "Whirlwind."

His family will honor and remember him with a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Olive East Cemetery, Elkhart.

A funeral procession will leave Billings at 10:30 a.m.
