ELKHART — Marlin Roy "Marty" Martin, 70, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, at his home.

Marty was born Jan. 12, 1945, to Jason and Gladys (Byers) Martin in Rusk County, Wis., the 11th of 12 children.

He was married to Lois Kay Hoover, daughter of George E. and Kathryn (Schmucker) Hoover, on Aug. 30, 1969, in Elkhart County.

Lois survives along with daughter Rockelle (Rodney) Saupe of Bristol; son Shane (Gayle) Martin of Elkhart; granddaughters Jordan and Casey Saupe; brothers Lloyd (Sharon), Earl and Nelson (Rhoda) Martin; sisters Grace Shult, Mary (Paul) Stoll, Martha (Vuriel) Peggar, Alma (Menno) Eby, Leona Skrivseth, Alta (Marlin) Brubaker; and two sisters-in-law, Norma Ash and Mabel Martin.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Lester and Ray Martin.

He was owner and operator of Elkhart Speedwash and Marty's Appliance Repair.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Prairie Street Mennonite Church, 1316 Prairie St., Elkhart, and 1 hour prior to the 10:00 AM celebration of life service on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 also at Prairie Street Mennonite Church. Pastor Nelson Kraybill will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.

The family wishes to express their grateful thanks to family, friends and hospice nurses for their devoted care during this past year.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
