Marlene Joy Miller, 78, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday afternoon, Dec. 25, at Maple Park Village in Westfield.
Marlene was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Elkhart to Kenneth and Hope Joy (Collins) Allen.
She married Vernon C. Miller on June 4, 1955, in Elkhart. He passed away Aug. 20, 1997.
Surviving are her children, daughter Karen K. Demler of Carmel and sons Michael V. (Judy L.) Miller and David B. (Laurie) Miller, both of Elkhart; sister Sherry Leininger of Edwardsburg, Mich.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Bonnie Swinehart; and companion Dale Smith.
Marlene worked for over 30 years at Darling-Kennedy Insurance Agency in Elkhart. She then went to work at Martin's Super Market at Cobblestone as a food demonstrator for many years. Marlene enjoyed crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a service to celebrate her life will start at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to her family.
