ELKHART — Mark L. Preston, 82, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart.
He was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Constantine, Mich., to Roy and Florence May (Raifsnider) Preston. On April 2, 1948, he married Jean Louise (Engle) Preston. She preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Lori (Lynn) Ward of Elkhart; son Jack (Nancy) Preston of Plano, Texas; sister Joann Ryder of Sturgis, Mich.; sister-in-law Alvert Preston of Constantine; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mark was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Mark was employed as a machinist for several years and worked for E.L. Nickell Co. prior to his retirement. Mark was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine. He enjoyed watching sports, hunting and spending time outdoors.
A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 185 W. Fifth St., Constantine. Pastor Dennis Smith will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
