ELKHART -- Mark Alan Hahn, 43, of Elkhart, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday (Sept. 5, 2008) in Goshen General Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He had not been ill.
Mark was born July 14, 1965, in Elkhart to Donald D. and Linda K. (Potter) Hahn. On June 6, 1990, he married B. Michele Hartwell in Elkhart.
She survives along with two daughters, Darian and Amiya Hahn, both at home; three children that he loved as if they were his own, Angie and Jessica Crumpler and Don Porter II; his parents of Wakarusa; his grandmother, Gertrude Hahn of Wakarusa; one sister, Lisa Kite of Elkhart; two brothers, Chad (Amy) Hahn of Wakarusa and Darren Hahn of New Paris; two nieces, Ashley and Amber Kite; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Hartwell of Elkhart.
Since 1993, Mark has been the vice-president at Weldy Enterprises, Wakarusa, a manufacturer and distributor of equipment for the agricultural and equine industry. He had worked at Torch Industries, Elkhart, and Hi-Tech Housing, Bristol, as an architectural engineer.
He was a 1983 graduate of Northwood High School and an graduate of Ivy Tech, where he earned his associate's degree in architectural engineering. Mark was a member of the North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He was a loving husband, devoted father and friend to all he met, as well as an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He looked forward to swimming with his daughters and was an extraordinary ordinary person. His smile, laugh and positive look on life are his legacy.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A service to celebrate Mark's life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1921 Jeanwood Drive. Elder Derek Allen will officiate. A meal will be served after the service.
