ELKHART — Mark Matthew Alan Christle, 47, of Elkhart, passed away at home at 3:50 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 20, 1965, in Lansing, Mich., to Andrew B. and Berta K. (Owens) Christle.
Surviving are a daughter, Gabriella I. "Gabby" Christle, and a stepdaughter, Alyssa Stiffler, both of South Bend; a son, Matthew Gold and a brother, Andrew B. Christle II, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Denine L. (Jason) Caldwell of Elkhart.
His father preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at DAV Chapter 19, 1205 Middleton Run Road, Elkhart, with a gathering of family and friends to follow until 5 p.m. Father Matthew Coonan of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home has been assisting the family with arrangements. Entombment will take place in Rice Cemetery at a later date.
Mark worked for the U.S. government as a civilian independent contractor painting aircraft for Boeing and Hughes Aircraft. He was a member of Elkhart DAV 19 Auxiliary.
