Marjorie was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Sherman, Mich., to Addison and Josephine (Spaulding) Butler. On May 28, 1938, in Kalamazoo, she married Walter J. Higbie. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1964, in Elkhart.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Larry J.) Linn of Elkhart and Jane (Frank) Cadena of Livermore, Calif.; three grandsons, Todd M. Hurley of Phoenix, John J. Hurley of Livermore and Michael J. Linn of New York City; and one great-grandson, Alex Hurley of Livermore.
Marjorie was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Waters; and one brother, Lyle Butler.
Friends may call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Friday funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. E. Wayne Speicher, chaplain at Hubbard Hill, will officiate. Burial in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart will follow the service.
Marjorie was the owner/operator of Marjorie's Beauty Shop in Elkhart for more than 40 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elkhart, was a gourmet cook and enjoyed doing things for other people.
