ELKHART -- Marjorie Jean Belt, 84, of Elkhart, passed away at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Valley View Healthcare Center in Elkhart after an extended illness.
She was born May 19, 1926, in Elkhart to John and Blanche (Haines) Elsasser. On Dec. 15, 1946, she married James E. Belt in Elkhart. He passed away in Mishawaka in 1986.
Surviving are daughter Linda J. (George E.) Welch of Elkhart; brother Maxwell (Betty) Elsasser of Stevensville, Mich.; granddaughter Chrystal Pletcher; and great-grandson Christain Pletcher.
Brothers John and Robert Elsasser and sister Mary Klein preceded her in death.
A celebration of Marjorie's life will be at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 19, 2010, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.
Marjorie was a cat lover and enjoyed pottery, reading, feeding birds on her porch and making Kool-Aid for neighborhood kids on hot summer days. She was a homemaker and worked at Miles Laboratories, Elkhart, in the 1940s.
Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
