Marilyn Rose Schmidtendorff, 79, of Union, MI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at her home.

Marilyn was born on September 25, 1944 in Washington, IN to the late Dean and Betty (Worman) Buhr. She married the love of her life, Lonnie Schmidtendorff, on April 5, 1976, who passed away in 1995.

Marilyn is survived by her cherished son, Rodney (Anne) Wininger of Union, MI; siblings, Diana (Richard) Hawkins, Joe (Jackie) Buhr, Kathie (John) Coleman and Sandy (Keith) Smoot; nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Marilyn retired from Conn-Selmer after more than 30 years as a clarinet and saxophone assembler. In her later years, she gathered her former coworkers for reunions.

Marilyn was a faithful member of Hope United Methodist Church, Edwardsburg, MI, for many years. She played a vital role at funeral luncheons, annual fish fries, rummage sales and clothing drives, respectively, for her church family and community.

In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed shopping and garage sales. She was a huge Elvis fan and collected animal figurines. Any foods that had coconut, especially coconut cream pie, put a smile on her face.

Marilyn was a selfless woman and had a big heart. Marilyn loved her family and looked forward to the holiday season, especially Christmas, where she delighted in giving the perfect gifts for her family, friends and especially children.

Marilyn was a dedicated mother and 'nana'. She will be remembered as a woman who could make you laugh with her unique sense of humor and her desire to please everyone she knew and met.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg, MI 49112 with Pastor Rob Snodgrass officiating.

Friends may gather two hours prior to the start of the service from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the church.

Burial and graveside service will follow at Kessington Cemetery in Union, MI.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to Hope United Methodist Church, St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or Edwardsburg Food Pantry.
