ELKHART — Marie E. Davis, 97, of Elkhart and formerly of South Bend, passed away at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Hoosier Home Care in Elkhart, after a brief illness.
She was born April 19, 1916, in Indianapolis to the late Emil C. and Lissette (Fuchs) Spromberg.
She later married Richard A. Davis on April 8, 1938, in South Bend.
He preceded her in death along with brothers John and Emil Spromberg Jr., and a granddaughter, Megan Wilson.
Surviving are her daughters, Liese (Thomas) Kreiser of Elkhart, Kathryn (Gary) Wilson of Markleville and "adopted" daughter Gilly Simpson of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England; her son, Dr. Timothy (Sandy) Davis of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be Friday, June 28, with burial following in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
