ELKHART — Marian R. Hannah, 84, of Elkhart, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, 2013, at Emeritus at Arborwood in Granger.
Marian was born Jan. 16, 1929, in New Paris to the late Jacob and Nellie (De Fouw) Huitema.
She married the late Robert K. Packer on Sept. 3, 1950, in Goshen.
She married the late Dr. Jack W. Hannah on Dec. 31, 1971, in Elkhart.
Surviving are a son, Steven R. (Denise) Packer of Columbus; a daughter, Kathy S. Packer of Elkhart; a stepson, James D. (Nancy) Hannah of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers John (Mary) Huitema of New Paris and Pastor Walter (Darlene) Huitema of Whittier, Calif.
Her sisters, Lucille Sechrist and Sylvia Osborn; brother, Nelson Huitema; infant brother, Jerald Huitema; and her stepdaughter, Judy Haulderman, preceded Marian in death.
Marian was a registered nurse and attended Ohio State University from 1969 to 1971 to become a nurse anesthetist. She worked at Elkhart General Hospital and was the former director of nursing at Goshen General Hospital. She also worked with her husband at Anesthesiologist Associates.
Marian enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She played the cello and enjoyed singing in the church choir at the former St. John's United Church of Christ of which she was a longtime member.
Services celebrating the life of Marian R. Hannah will begin at 11 a.m. with one hour calling prior Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Her brother, Pastor Walter Huitema, will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
