Obituary
ELKHART- Maria E. Ortiz, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at Woodland Manor in Elkhart. She was born August 18, 1924 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Uvaldo Ortiz Torres and Amanda Contreras Torres.
Survivors include a daughter, Juanita Varela of Aguascalientes, MX; 2 sons, Ralph C. (Yolanda) Ortiz of Elkhart and Jose Ortiz of Aguascalientes, MX; 2 sisters, Christina (Jesus) Arellano and Carmen Ortiz Torres, both of Aguascalientes, MX; brother, Fidel Ortiz Torres of Aguascalientes, MX; 8 grandchildren living in Aguascalientes, MX and 3 grandchildren in Indiana, Kristie Bowlby and Dayna Chilcote of Elkhart and Travis McCavitt of Mishawaka; several great-grandchildren in Aguascalientes and 4 in Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Simon De La Cruz and 2 brothers.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the 6:00 P.M. funeral service on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Rev. Glenn Kohrman of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church will officiate.
