Marguerite M. Nommay, 90, of Goshen, formerly of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Waterford Crossing, Goshen.
A celebration of life open house for Marguerite M. Nommay will be held from 11am until 1 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.
A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was born on September 19, 1934, to Clement M. and Clara M. (Nichter) Schnieders. She married her best friend and true love, Donald E. Nommay, on April 30, 1955, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. They were happily married for 29 years before Donald passed away on March 18, 1984.
Surviving are her children; Nancy C. (James) Moore of Colorado Springs, CO, Daniel E. (Louanne) Nommay of Elkhart, Brian R. (Sharon) Nommay of Charleston, SC, Mary (James) Nommay-Keil, and Denise M. West, both of Elkhart. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, three brothers and five sisters.
Marguerite was the President of Rocket Car Wash for 21 years. She was a woman of great faith and was an active member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church and Altar Rosary Society. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years. Marguerite was very active and had many interests, including golfing, working in her yard and garden, painting, and taking art classes. She was a season ticket holder for Notre Dame home football games for 38 years. The central focus of her life was loving her God, family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation was chosen under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. Marguerite's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Waterford Crossing and Heart to Heart Hospice for the love, care, and concern they have shown her this past year.
Memorial donations may be made to Wellfield Botanical Gardens or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
