IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Ann
(Myers) Grieb
January 24, 1928 – August 6, 2024
Margaret Ann Grieb, of Elkhart, peacefully passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Esther House Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. Her life was a beautiful and meaningful journey of 96 years.
Margaret was born on January 24, 1928 in Elkhart to the late Aaron R. and Harriett R. (LeHew) Myers. At 19, she married Harold S. Grieb, in Elkhart, on November 23, 1947. They remained married for nearly 70 years until Harold passed away on August 2, 2017.
Surviving Margaret is her daughter, Ann R. (Mark) Goodman of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren Cara R. (Nicholas III) DiMarcello of Warren Township, New Jersey and Cole A. (Karen Cruz) Jacobson of Mishawaka; great grandson Nicholas DiMarcello IV, and great granddaughter Sofia M. DiMarcello, who hasn't quite arrived on scene yet.
Margaret is also survived by her dear, long-time friend Patricia Moore-Rowe of Mishawaka, as well as a host of loving extended family, friends and associates.
In accordance with Margaret's wishes, a simple cremation is to take place followed by a private mausoleum tower niche placement ceremony at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart in the very near future. Margaret will be laid to rest along with her late daughter, Sue Ellen Grieb (1950 – 2023), who passed away late last year. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services have been assisting the family with mom's arrangement details.
Margaret was a homemaker who very much enjoyed immersing herself in all sorts of activities, organizations and responsibilities. She was a very social person, and simply loved being around others. She was a member of a local pinochle club for over 50 years (but outlived all of her fellow club members), the Four Arts Club and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), where she served for decades alongside her husband Harold, who was State and County President for many, many years. She also loved to dance and travel, visiting such places as Hawaii, Alaska, Tahiti and several locations in Europe.
Memorial contributions may be given in Margaret's memory to the Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 East Bristol Street, Elkhart, Indiana 46514, or to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), 4301 Wilson Blvd. Ste. 300, Arlington, VA 22203.
