ELKHART -- Margaret E. McMeekan-Tuthill, 94, of Elkhart, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday (Feb. 1, 2010) in Hubbard Hill Estates.
She was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Elkhart to William A. and Goldie (Wilson) Lynch. She married George A. McMeekan, who died in 1971. She married Morris Tuthill, who died in 1984.
Mrs. McMeekan-Tuthill is survived by two sons, George N. McMeekan of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Thomas W. (Sally) McMeekan of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Lynette McMeekan of Cassopolis, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Janet Bechtel of Elkhart; one stepson, James (Mary) Tuthill of Elkhart; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Wilson Lynch.
For many years, Margaret worked in the office of Fairies-McMeekan Inc., a company she and her late husband, George, started. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart, where she was very active in the Braille ministry. She enjoyed sewing, reading and working crossword puzzles.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Friends also may call for one hour Friday prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 W. Blvd., Elkhart. Pastor Robert Schallhorn of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Cremation has take place. Burial will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
