ELKHART — Margaret O. Botts, 90, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Lima, Ohio, to Edmund L. and Marcella (Ellison) Crawford Smith.
On Oct. 18, 1941, she married the late Leonard M. Botts in Covington, Ky. He preceded her in death June 2, 2003.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Roger) Simpson of Elkhart; two sons, Michael (Sharron) Botts of Edwardsburg, Mich., and John (Diana) Botts of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three step-grandchildren; four great-step-grandchildren; and three great-great-step-grandchildren.
Margaret was employed as a riveter during World War II and worked as a homemaker for several years following the war.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Friendly Pioneers and a former member of the YWCA Senior Group. Margaret enjoyed bowling in various leagues and all kinds of crafts and handwork.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, and for an hour prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Keith McFarren will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
