ELKHART — Maranda L. Neterer, 36, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully after an extended illness at IU Health Goshen Hospital at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013.
She was born in South Bend on June 19, 1977, to Randy L. and Dee (Hendrey) Smith. On Aug. 28, 2010, she married Mark L. Neterer in Mishawaka, who survives at home.
Also surviving are daughters Justice N. Brigham of Indianapolis and Braylee A. Smith of Elkhart; stepchildren Chaiston, Zoie, Malachi and Zane Neterer, all of Elkhart; brothers Andrew "Drew" (Manda Connell) Smith of Elkhart and Erik (Tina) Haugen of Valparaiso; sisters Lora Haugen and Sara (Ron) Fizer, both of Elkhart; parents Dee (Terry) Smith of Elkhart and Randy (Pamm) Smith of Edwardsburg, Mich.; grandparents Teru Hendrey and Phil (Verna) Smith, both of Elkhart, and Janis Sexton of Buchanan, Mich.; and in-laws Cheri (Gary) Neterer of Elkhart.
A celebration of Maranda's life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. Pastor Bob Staley will officiate. In accordance with the family's wishes, Maranda's body has been cremated. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to wear pink in honor of her memory.
Maranda was a homemaker who had been attending Regency Beauty Institute in Mishawaka to become a cosmetologist prior to her illness. She attended River Oaks Community Church and enjoyed shopping, eating out (especially at Ruth's Chris Steak House) and spending time with her family.
