Obituary

Mrs. Mahala "Mickie" Turner, of Crown Point, IN and formerly of Elkhart, IN, peacefully passed on to her Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Lowell Healthcare Center in Lowell, IN. She was born on July 19, 1934 in Harbor Springs, MI to the late John T. and Floella (Washburn) Craig and later married the Reverend Dale A. Turner on June 5, 1953 in Shabbona, MI. They were married for 67 years. Dale passed away on August 1, 2020.

Surviving Mickie are her daughters, Sherry Lynn (Bruce) Ake of Kimball, MI, Ranae Diana (Doug) Heeres of Fayette, OH and Melanie Beth (James) Hardman of Crown Point, IN, her sister, Leona M. Perry of Caro, MI, grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew) Peake of Owenton, KY, Jennilyn (Chris) Vander Weide of Caledonia, MI, Erica (Levi) Suffel of Angola, IN, Landon (Emily) Heeres of Whitehouse, OH, Whitney Heeres of Fayette, OH, Stephanie (Derek) Garcia of Long Island, NY and Andrea (Jeran) Nicholas of Ponmar, Tamil Nadu, India, great grandchildren Asher, Adelyn, Turner, Titus, Jackson, Joy, Gabriel, Silas, Eliana, Rosalie, Grace, Josiah, Obed, Timothy, Nathaniel, Owen, Eva and many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, John T. Craig, Jr. and sisters, Violet P. Kolberg and Mary R. Black.

Private family services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. There will be a Memorial Service for Mickie posted on YouTube for family and friends to view at a later time.

Mickie was a homemaker, mother, wife of a dairy farmer, pastor's wife and caregiver. She loved caring for people. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of The Gideons International. She was a volunteer for Helping Hands, by making baby blankets for new mothers at the hospital.

Mickie treasured studying the Bible, reading for enjoyment, crocheting, baking, cooking, and sharing her hospitality with others.
