(Iavagnilio) Scott
February 18, 1932 – August 23, 2022
M. Lucy Scott, of Bristol, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Majestic Healthcare, Goshen. Lucy was born on February 18, 1932 in Elkhart, to the late Frank and Josephine (Checchio) Iavagnilio. She married John E. Scott on January 16, 1954 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. John passed away on December 12, 1991 after 36 years of marriage. Surviving are two daughters, Joann K. (Jim) Williams Jr., Debra A. Scott; seven loving grandchildren, John (Candace) Lytell, Johna Miller, Jessyca Lytell and fiancé Chad Hickman, Josiah (Alexandrea) Scott, James Williams III and fiancée' Heather Ramsey, Jenna Williams and Jacob Williams; and ten great grandchildren; also surviving is a brother Tony (Sherry) Iavagnilio; and three sisters, Helen Sandlin, Jane Iavagnilio and Josephine "Jo" Green.
Lucy's daughter Kathy and son- in- law Jeff Brown, granddaughter Rebecca Lytell, and her sister Edith Preston preceded her in death.
Lucy was a fixture in and around Bristol. She worked for over 35 years at Harding's Market as a cashier and the Health and Beaty counter. Lucy was a 63 year member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, where she was active with the alter and rosary society, as well as helping with funeral dinners and many events at the church. Lucy played the flute in the New Horizon's Band and was a long time member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599. She volunteered as a CARES mentor at Bristol Elementary School and ushered at the Bristol Opera House. She was a proud breast cancer survivor since 2006. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and her flowers. She was well known for her homemade grape jelly and awesome deviled eggs. Lucy was a beautiful person, who loved her church, city and most importantly, her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Rev. Bob VanKempen will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol. Visitation for Lucy will be held from 4- 8 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2022 also at St. Mary's. The evening will conclude with a parish Rosary.
