Obituary

Lynnette Bell Long, 71, of Elkhart, passed away at Riverside Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart following an extended illness at midnight Thursday, April 2.

She was born in Linaway County, Mich., on July 25, 1943, to the late Hubert and Evelyn (Sayers) Long.

Surviving are her sister, Shirree R. Rittenhouse of Mishawaka; her nephews, Mark (Teresa) Rittenhouse of Passport, Australia, and Greg (Heather) Rittenhouse of South Bend; and two great-nieces.

Lynnette's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart with viewing from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, April 6, with a service following at 3 p.m. Pastor David Lade of Elkhart's Bethel Assembly of God will officiate. In accordance with Lynnette's wishes, cremation will follow her service. Burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date in Waldron Cemetery in Waldron, Mich.

Lynnette worked for CTS and Whitehall Laboratories of Elkhart for many years until her health required her early retirement. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, played piano and organ by heart for various churches, and completed dental school when she was young. She loved to knit, sew and spend time with her cats, which she loved dearly.
