Lula Mae "Mudea" Woods, 91, of Elkhart, went Home to be with Her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, February 13, 2023 at her home.

Lula was born on February 23, 1931 in Mason, TN to William Jones Sr. and Lula Bell (Macklin) Lemons. She was married to the late Arthur Woods Jr. on November 30, 1946. He passed away on October 2, 1981.

She is also preceded in death by her son, Arthur Jr. Woods who passed on Jan. 7, 2023; her grandchildren, Maurice Woods, Tyrone Woods, Bobby Woods and Kenneth Kemp; brothers and sisters, Willie James Bonds, William Jones Jr., Jessie Lemons, Eddie Lewis Lemons, Charlie E. Lemons, Rosie B. Woods-Lemons, Flora B. Hall and Polly Carruthers, and special friend, Charles Glass.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Willie L. (Mary) Woods, Edna M. Redmond, William E. (Julia) Woods, Walter L. Woods (Erin Forbes), Gloria J. Woods, Marguerite (Antoine) Fowler and Flora D. (Nathan) Harris, all of Elkhart; brother, Clinton Lemons of Covington, TN; 26 grandchildren; and 100+ great grandchildren.

Everyone knew Lula as "Mudea". She enjoyed seeing her family have fun. Lula was a fixture in the Elkhart community. Lula was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for many years.

Lula was a fantastic cook and baker. She enjoyed watching her soap operas and the TV show "Cops". Lula enjoyed watching her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews dance. That always put a smile on her face.

She was a loveable and kind lady and she will be greatly missed.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 12:00 pm noon, February 23, 2023 (the day of her birthday) at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 935 Fieldhouse Avenue, Elkhart, IN 46517 with Pastor Danny Brown presiding.

A public visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm prior to the start of the service at the church.

A graveside service will follow at Rice Cemetery.
