She was born May 20, 1911, in Elkhart to Edward and Hulda (Klugas) Kunkel. On Oct. 2, 1932, she married Ford Platz. He died in 1972 in Elkhart.

She is survived by her nephew and caregiver, Robert (Bea) Everly of Elkhart, along with several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her four brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call two hours prior to the 1 p.m. Thursday funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Tom Thews of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.

Mrs. Platz had been a sales clerk at Hirsch in Elkhart and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Married Women's Club and the YWCA, and had been a lifetime member of the Elks Ladies.
