ELKHART — Lucille H. Byington, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, April 11, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1926, in Hazelhurst, Wis., to Edward and Alice (Barron) Kucera.
On June 28, 1945, she married the late Clifford T. Byington. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Donald) Croop of Elkhart; two granddaughters, Christine (Lee) Hanna of Elkhart and Kathleen (Paul) Hardy of Oxford, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Byington; four sisters; and two brothers.
Lucille was employed at Kroger grocery store for several years and later, prior to her retirement, worked at Foamcraft Inc. in Elkhart.
She enjoyed spending time crocheting and working on word puzzles.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Private graveside services will be Wednesday, April 15, in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Pastor Craig Garber will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Lucille may be made to the Center for Hospice Care.
