ELKHART — Louis Williams, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 5, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Louis was born May 29, 1928, in Rich, Miss., to the Late Prince and Harriet Williams.
He married Thelma Bridges on Dec. 10, 1949. She passed away Oct. 4, 2011.
Surviving are his children, three sons, Thomas Williams of Miami, Fla., Cleo Williams and Curtis (Christy) Williams, both of Elkhart; three daughters, Hobbie L. Barham, Ethel M. (Robert) Jackson, Rosie L. Williams, all of Elkhart; numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Also two sisters, Anna Taper of Milwaukee and Berthola (Robert) Ellis of Lula, Miss., survive as well.
In addition to his parents and wife, three sisters, Lenora Williams, Hobbie Lee Henderson and Luetchia Green preceded him in death.
In his younger days, Louis was a farmer. He retired from By-Pass Paint Shop after 22 years of service.
He enjoyed painting, working on cars, barbecues, but most importantly was spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, with visitation one hour prior at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. His son, Curtis Williams will officiate. Cremation will follow, with burial at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
