GOSHEN — Louis J. "Lou" Brandon, 87, of Goshen, passed away at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart Saturday, Sept. 6, following an extended illness.
He was born in Elkhart on July 7, 1927, to the late Ernest and Tressa (Scott) Brandon.
He later married Jeanne L. Cripe on Oct. 19, 1947, in Elkhart. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Karen (Greg) Stutsman of Elkhart and Linda (Dave) Renaldi of Tecumseh, Mich.; twin sister Louise Roush of Elkhart; five grandsons and their spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Robert Brandon, preceded Lou in death.
In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of his life, including a Masonic service, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Creekside Church of the Brethren, 60455 C.R. 113 in Elkhart. Pastors Rosanna McFadden, Elizabeth Kelsey and Doug Reichenbach will officiate. Entombment will follow on Monday, Sept. 15, during a private service. Arrangements have been placed under the care of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
Lou retired from Windsor Mobile Homes of Bristol after nearly 20 years of employment. After retirement he delivered flowers for Goshen Floral for over 25 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, in Scottish Rite and was a Shriner. He belonged to Goshen Tyrian Lodge 12 and the Fort Wayne Mizpah Shriner's Lodge as well as Creekside Church of the Brethren.
He spent his free time driving patients back and forth to the Shriner Hospitals in Chicago and Cincinnati. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the years following World War II.
