ELKHART — Louis A. "Louie" Minichillo, 87, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 7, at Riverside Village.
Louie was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Elkhart, to the late Leonard and Gelsomina (Iarrapino) Minichillo.
Surviving are his sisters, Susan Sailor and Toni Minichillo, both of Elkhart; 16 nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Louie was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Minichillo; a sister, Marie Corpe; and several nieces and nephews.
Louie retired in 1985 from Miles (Bayer) Laboratories. He was a lifelong resident of Elkhart and a faithful member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He liked to play the lottery and pray the rosary.
Visitation for Louie will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a rosary will conclude the evening at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart where friends may also call for 1 hour prior to the mass. The Rev. Matthew Coonan will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV Chapter 19.
