She was born on March 27, 1921, in Massac County near Metropolis, Ill., to the late John and Lula Belle (Nelson) Ruble. On Jan. 3, 1989 in South Bend she married Francis Leroy Kizer.
He survives in Elkhart along with a daughter, Pamela (Larry) Peters of Osceola, Ind.; her son Stephen I. (Shelley) Rose of Elkhart; stepson Michael Kizer of Florida and a stepdaughter, Karen (Russell) Silva, Delhi, Calif. Surviving as well are her nine grandchildren, Kristin, Stefanie, Amanda, Patrick, James, Todd, Dawn, Amanda and Bradley and six great-grandchildren.
Several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Friends may call, for one hour, prior to the 1:30 p.m. service to celebrate her life on Tuesday, March 25, at the First Brethren Church, located at 24197 C.R. 16 in Elkhart. Pastor Jeff Estep will officiate with private burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Louella worked as a seamstress at Boris Smolers in Elkhart for many years and was a housekeeper and a babysitter. She was a member of the Lydick United Methodist Church in South Bend and a former member of Zion Missionary Church in Elkhart where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed camping with her family and gardening.
