ELKHART — Loren J. Eby, 82, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, June 8, at Golden Living Center.
He was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Elkhart to Walter and Ellen (Drake) Eby.
Phyllis survives, as well as their children, Gary D. ( Linda) Eby of Elkhart, Loretta A. (Jeff) Eby-Jackson of Watkinsville, Ga., Lorene W. (Robert) Mann of Mishawaka, Mary Ellen (Charles) Eby-Roberts of Caldwell, Idaho, as well as Jack A, Brown of San-Ramon, Calif., Scott E. (Christine) Brown of Elkhart, Dennis E. (Bonnie) Brown of Lakeland, Fla., and Teri A. Brown-Kauffman of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, two brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Loren worked as a machine operator at Elkhart Products Corp., then worked at Vincent Bach as an electrician and night watchman for 10 years. In his younger years he was a farmer and helped deliver milk for the family business, Eby Dairy.
Loren served as a Class 1-W during World War II and was a lifelong member of Olive Mennonite Church in Elkhart.
He and Phyllis enjoyed traveling and camping. Loren kept himself busy with many projects and could fix just about anything.
Friends may call for an hour prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, service celebrating the life of Loren J. Eby at Olive Mennonite Church, 61081 C.R. 3, Elkhart. Pastors Kevin and Sharon Yoder will officiate. Burial will follow in Olive (West) Cemetery.
The family kindly suggests memorials be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E. 91st. St.. Ste. 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209.
