Ms. Kreiser was raised on a wheat farm in Three Forks with two sisters and two brothers. There, she attended a one-room schoolhouse until high school. She graduated from Grace Bible College with a bachelor's degree in biblical studies in 1958. She then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in home economics from the University of Nebraska in 1960. While there, she married and then later moved to Elkhart in 1962, and raised her three sons.
Ms. Kreiser taught at Brookdale Junior High School and then substitute-taught in Elkhart Community Schools. She had many hobbies, including modeling, sewing, gardening, needlework and swimming. She enjoyed traveling and took her boys on summer vacations to Montana and other states. Due to her dislike of clogged gutters, she designed, patented and sold a unique gutter-cleaning device. She regularly attended New Song Community Church.
