ELKHART — Lois M. Gardner, 84, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 7:05 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born in Farmer City, Ill., on March 12, 1929, to the late Dale and Flonnie (Doss) Becker.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Boomershine, and her son, Douglas Gardner, both of Elkhart; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Susan Taylor; brothers Lyle and Richard Becker; and her significant other, Denny Wigiens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, with the funeral service at 6 p.m., at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart. A private burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Lois was the owner of several area restaurants the last 30 years, including Checker Lunch, Drift Inn, and Dick and Kay's, currently Continental Liquor on Bristol Street. She was also a machine operator at Kiser Aluminum for more than 14 years.
Memorial donations may be given to the family in care of Billings Funeral Home.
