Obituary
LAGRANGE — Lloyd E. Shaffer, 82, of LaGrange, passed away at Parkview LaGrange Hospital Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at 9 p.m.
He was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Goshen to Raymond Shaffer and Florence L. (Burk) Shaffer, both deceased.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Whitmer of Elkhart; one brother, Alvin Shaffer of Orland; one sister, Mary Grays of Goshen; two granddaughters, Kim Quinn of Goshen and Tracy Whitmer of Elkhart; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Whitmer of Elkhart, Zachary Whitmer of Middlebury and Tiffany and Kevin Barnes of Goshen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Reynolds) Shaffer; brother Michael Shaffer; son Raymond Shaffer; great-grandson Anthony Barnes; and long time companion Norma Kiefer.
Lloyd proudly served the United States Army during the Korean War.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, for one hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Tim Sheets will officiate. Interment will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
