She was born Nov. 19, 1942, in Wilson County, N.C., to Walter D. and Henrietta (VanOverman) Barnes. She married Marvin T. Poole Nov. 19, 1984, in Toledo, Ohio.
He survives along with three sons, Kenneth E. Trytko of Middlebury, Marvin T. (Brooke Showalter) Poole II of Elkhart and Richard Pool of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two daughters, Brenda (Larry) Hoskins of Schoolcraft, Mich., and Renee (Jeff) Howard of Rossford, Ohio; four grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Barnes of North Carolina; and three sisters, Juanita (Sam) Moody of Wilmington, N.C., Alice Irvin of Columbia, N.C., and Doris (Albert) Webb of Macclesfield, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Marvin Poole III., and two brothers, JD and Martin Barnes.
Friends may call one hour prior to Sunday's 2 p.m. memorial service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with the Rev. Keith McFarren of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has taken place and dispersal will be at a later date.
Mrs. Poole was a homemaker who loved doing crafts, cooking, doting on her dogs and spending time with her family.
