September 21, 2010
ELKHART -- Linda Sue "Sis" Dunn, 54, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at 2 a.m. at the Elkhart Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family was at her side.
She was born March 27, 1956, in Manchester County, Ala., to Elwood and Nola Collins Dunn.
She is survived by her sister and caregiver, Judy A. Davis; her brother, David L. (Lori) Dunn; three nieces, Tabitha A. Hibshman and Valerie K. and Natasha A. Seal; five great-nieces, Breanna, Kayla, Madison, Leah and Kadence Seal; and a great-nephew, Kyle Burkholder, all of Elkhart.
Preceding Sis in death were her mother, Nola, and her nephew, Cpl. Aaron L. Seal, USMC, who was killed in action in Iraq in 2006.
Friends and family were invited to a celebration of Sis' life on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Services were Friday, Sept. 24, 2010. Brother David Tidwell and Pastor Dwight Weaver, close personal friends of the family, officiated. Burial followed at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
Sis was a lifelong over-the-road truck driver who spent over 32 years behind the wheel. She had been proud of the fact that she had visited every state except Alaska. She was also talented musically and was able to play the drums as well as the guitar. Her biggest love, however, was her family, and she cherished the time she spent with them.
As per Sis' request, memorial donations may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
