MISHAWAKA — Lin R. Shafer, 60, of Mishawaka, was found passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 9, 1957, in Elkhart, to the late Harold R. and Doris M. (Wolfe) Shafer.
Surviving are his sons, Nathan "Nate" (Michelle) Shafer of Tampa, Florida and Nicholas "Nick" Shafer of Elkhart; siblings Christine Shafer of Bristol and Larry (Carijuan) Shafer of New Harmony, grandchildren Jacob, Isabella, Kaden and Kyler Shafer, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Siblings Julie Huebner, Belinda Felder and Terry R. and Kim L. Shafer preceded him in death.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to host Lin's celebration of life services beginning with a memorial visitation at 3 p.m. Friday, March 10, followed by a service at 4 p.m. Pastor Rick Pirtle of the Riverview General Baptist Church of Elkhart will officiate.
In accordance with Lin's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Lin had worked as a cabinet maker in the local RV industry for many years but retired early due to his health. An accomplished handyman, Lin enjoyed helping others by being able to fix things for them.
He loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family and especially enjoyed camping with his brother in New Harmony.
Memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
