Celebrating the Life of Mr. Leon Williams

Mr. Leon Williams, 70, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Riverside Village nursing facility on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 3:30 p.m.

Leon was born on September 17, 1954, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to the late Radford and Lucille (Chandler) Williams. He was preceded in death by his brothers Earl, J.C., John, and Billie Joe Williams.

He is survived by his children: sons Adrian Armstrong of Elkhart and Kerry (Heather) Neely of Granger, Indiana, and his daughter Kila (Christopher) Morris of Elkhart. He was a grandfather whose face lit up in the presence of his nine grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Leon is also survived by his brothers Benny (Bonnie Bradley) Williams, L.C. (Twillia) Williams, and Hugh (Marlene) Williams — as well as Clifton Hildreth, who was like a brother — all of Elkhart. His sisters Erie (Freddie) Johnson of Elkhart and Debra Curry and Peggy (Floyd) North of San Diego, California, also survive him. He leaves behind a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Leon spent most of his life in Elkhart and worked for several years in the local manufacturing industry. He faced many struggles over the years, but in his later life, he found a greater sense of peace and quiet. He loved to laugh, listen to blues music, enjoy a cold one with friends, and sit down to a warm plate of home-cooked food.

A Homegoing Celebration for Leon will be held at AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolf Avenue, Elkhart, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 12:00 noon, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Dannell Brown will officiate. Leon will be laid to rest at Prairie Street Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart.
