ELKHART — Leon Williams Jr., 57, of Dothan, Ala. and formerly of Elkhart, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 12. He had been in ill health.
He was born in Tiptonville, Tenn., on Dec. 8, 1956, to Leon Sr. and Lula Mae (Gross) Williams of Elkhart. They survive.
Also surviving are his children, Dominique Pledger of Birmingham, Ala. and Leana Williams of South Bend; siblings Velma (Roy) Jackson of Elkhart, and Yvette Williams and Glenn (Sheila) Williams, both of Peoria, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A son, Deon Williams, preceded him in death.
A celebration of Leon's life will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Willowdale Church of Christ, 1400 Willowdale Ave., Elkhart. The visitation will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date and Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is handling the arrangements.
Leon spent nearly 20 years working for Wayne Farms, formerly known as Perdue Farms. He enjoyed all types of music, nice cars and dressing sharp when he spent time with his friends and family.
