ELKHART — Leon Horton Sr., 69, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 1, 1942, in Trenton, Tenn., to the Rev. James and Dorothy (Buchanan) Horton.
Survivors include his wife, Fredella L. (Roberson) Horton, and two daughters, Aliza (Ben) Pope and Tasha (Larry) Smith, all of Elkhart; two sons, Joseph (Mary) Roberson of Elkhart and Leon Horton Jr. of Benton Harbor, Mich.; brother Cecil Horton of Antelope, Calif.; three sisters, Imogene (James) Fields of Goshen, Sally (Al) Robinson of Douglasville, Ga., and Ruby Thompson of Elk Grove, Calif.; sister-in-law Tish Horton of South Bend; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Weldon Willis, Charlie, James "Bubba," Don and John D. Horton; and two sisters, Katherin Johnson and Mary Jones.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the noon funeral service Monday, April 9, 2012, at Agape Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolfe Ave., Elkhart. The Rev. Jermaine Pulliam will officiate. Interment will follow in Little Pine Cemetery.
