DETROIT — Leo Allen Brennan, 88, of Detroit and formerly of Elkhart, Ind., passed away from an extended illness Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at 1:26 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital.

He had been staying at his daughter's home in Elkhart.

He was born in Croswell on March 9, 1925, to the late William J. and Grace M. (Levitt) Brennan.

In 1953 he married Betty Lou (Replogle) Huffman in Elkhart. She survives at home in Detroit.

He is also survived by his daughter, Susan (Loren) Maier of Elkhart; brothers Tom (Joyce) Brennan of Port Huron and Bob (Mary Lou) Brennan of Cape Coral, Fla.; sisters Ila Best and Martha (Bob) Smith, both of Port Huron; and a grandson, Roger (Barb Lowery) Maier of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie, and brothers Raymond, Russell, Harry, Al and Stan Brennan.

No immediate services have been planned. In accordance with the family's wishes, Leo's body is to be cremated and will be buried in Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville at a later date.

Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.

Leo was a racing horse trainer in Illinois for many years and enjoyed raising Chihuahuas and Manchester dogs. He was a Mason and a member of Elkhart's Kane Lodge 183.
