Mrs. Lenda D. Crume, 81, passed away peacefully at her Elkhart home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 6:50 a.m.

She was born on August 2, 1945, in Lunsford, Arkansas, to Glenda L. Taber. On May 31, 1988, in Elkhart, she married the love of her life, Tsu Gong Zhu, who survives.

Along with her devoted husband, Lenda is survived by her sons, John (Elizabeth) Crume of Granger; her daughter, Sonya Simons of Tok, Alaska; stepson Enpi Zhu of Davenport, Iowa; her brother, Steven (Kristyn) Travis of Elkhart; her sister, Kelly (Jim) Kincaid, Sr. of Elkhart; as well as many grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at Zion Missionary Church, 1135 E. Hively Avenue, Elkhart, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial celebration of her life, officiated by Rev. Jacob LaBounty, will begin at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes.

Lenda was an accomplished world traveler who delighted in exploring new places and cultures. She also enjoyed reading and collecting porcelain dolls. Above all, she will be remembered as a kind and compassionate woman whose gentle spirit, good character, and concern for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
