GOSHEN -- Leland L. "Lee" Stiver, 87, of Goshen, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in Courtyard Healthcare Center.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1923, in Clinton Township to the late LaMar Franklin and Gladys (Wortinger) Stiver. He married Doris Hart on Nov. 16, 1940. She passed away in 1984. He then married Emily J. Deal on Jan. 11, 1985, in Goshen.

She survives along with a son, David L. Stiver Sr. of Knoxville, Tenn; his daughter, Doris Lee (Hank) Savard of Manheim, Pa.; stepsons Jonathon Deal of New Paris and Kevin Deal and Matt (Dena) Deal of Goshen; and a stepdaughter, Kathy (Bill) Haggerty of Elkhart. Four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren survive, as well.

Lee was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Cataldo.

Lee worked in retail sales for most of his career, formerly at Montgomery Ward, and retired from Sears in 1985. For many years after, he worked as a greeter at the Walmart Supercenter on Lincolnway East in Goshen. Lee attended First Church of God in Goshen where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He was an accomplished singer and enjoyed traveling with his wife.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Troy Scott officiated. In keeping with Lee's wishes, cremation followed services.
