Leila June "Hodge" Smith, 88, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2020 at The Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart . Leila was born on August 23, 1931 in Rockford, Illinois to Wayne and Geneva (Adams) Hodge. She married Donald Clark Smith in November of 1948, Donald passed away on May 1, 1997 in Elkhart.

Surviving is her son, Terry R. (Cindy) Smith; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; Sister Janet Hodge Boyle as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sons, Jerry Smith, Donny Smith; brothers Wayne F. Hodge, William C. Hodge and sisters, JoAnn Hodge, Shirley Sam and Pam Hodge.

Leila and Donald lived in Chicago for most of their lives. She worked at and retired from Western Electric. They moved back to Elkhart area in the 1990's. Leila liked playing cards and enjoyed a Piña Colada every once in a while.

Leila will be laid to rest next to Donald on Tuesday in Rice Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home Elkhart.
